Ori is a charming kid, 11 years old, who deal with social difficulties, low self-confidence and self-esteem, and experiences himself as a victim against other children.
During our sailing and surfing therapy, we went surfing, and he situated himself in the worse place he could have chosen- the breakers.
Many children deal with difficulties in different fields (social, emotional, school), and they express it in front of their friends, in their class, at home, etc.
While sailing or surfing, we could see these reflections and the way the child cope with, and we will start making a change in our marine space so that the change will expand to their life.
At sea
Dealing, success, and self-image
Sail the sail
The sea as a platform for observation
One of the key element in sailing and surfing therapy is creating a visible success sequence, which uses us to elevate self-image.
From the first time the child contact with the sea, he begins dealing with marine challenges, such as preparing the boat for sailing and organizing his sailing equipment, through sailing at sea and dealing with forces of nature. Every small success is a part of a larger whole, which may affect the child's image
Many children deal with different difficulties and don't want to talk about them, or unaware of them. During the sailing or surfing session, the child will express himself with his strength and difficulties which halt him, and they could be reflected either with words or behavior, or both. One of the advantages of sailing and surfing therapy is that you don't have to talk about it, but you do it
One of the main advantages of sailing and surfing therapy is the notion of the sea as a container for feeling projections from the inner world of the child. The open and wide space, the dynamic environment and the constant moving of the water at sea may conceptualize the emotional world the child experience, and find it difficult to express it in words
